Introduction

YouSpot ("Company" or "We") respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy.

This policy describes the types of information we may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit the website YouSpot (our "Website") or use our agents (our "Services") and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

This policy applies to information we collect:

On this Website.
In email, text, and other electronic messages between you and this Website.
Through the YouSpot browser extension, which you install and sign in to yourself. See Browser Extension below, also published on its own at /privacy/extension.

It does not apply to any website, mobile app, service, or product that does not display or link to this Privacy Policy or that contains its own privacy notice.

Please read this policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, your choice is not to use our Website. This policy may change from time to time (see Changes to Our Privacy Policy), so please check the policy periodically for updates.

Information We Collect and How We Collect It

We collect several types of information from and about users of our Website, including information:

By which you may be personally identified, such as name, postal address, email address, telephone number, or any other identifier by which you may be contacted online or offline ("personal information");
That is about you but individually does not identify you; and/or
About your internet connection, the equipment you use to access our Website, and usage details.

We collect this information:

Directly from you when you provide it to us.
Automatically as you navigate through the site. Information collected automatically may include usage details, IP addresses, and information collected through cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies.

Information that you provide by filling in forms on our Website. This includes information provided at the time of registering to use our Website, posting material, or requesting further services. We may also ask you for information when you report a problem with our Website.

You also may provide information to be published or displayed (hereinafter, "posted") on public areas of the Website, or transmitted to other users of the Website or third parties (collectively, "User Contributions"). Your User Contributions are posted on and transmitted to others at your own risk.

Information We Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Technologies

As you navigate through and interact with our Website, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions, and patterns, including:

Details of your visits to our Website, and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on the Website.
Information about your computer and internet connection, including your IP address, operating system, and browser type.

The information we collect automatically may include personal information, or we may maintain it or associate it with personal information we collect in other ways or receive from third parties. It helps us to improve our Website and to deliver a better and more personalized service, including by enabling us to:

Estimate our audience size and usage patterns.
Store information about your preferences, allowing us to customize our Website according to your individual interests.

The technologies we use for this automatic data collection may include:

Cookies (or browser cookies). A cookie is a small file placed on the hard drive of your computer. You may refuse to accept browser cookies by activating the appropriate setting on your browser. However, if you select this setting you may be unable to access certain parts of our Website. Unless you have adjusted your browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, our system will issue cookies when you direct your browser to our Website. Web Beacons. Pages of our Website and our emails may contain small electronic files known as web beacons (also referred to as clear gifs, pixel tags, and single-pixel gifs) that permit the Company, for example, to count users who have visited those pages or opened an email and for other related website statistics (for example, recording the popularity of certain website content and verifying system and server integrity).

We do not collect personal information automatically, but we may tie non-personal information collected automatically to personal information about you that we collect from other sources or that you provide to us.

How We Use Your Information

We use information that we collect about you or that you provide to us, including any personal information:

To present our Website and its contents to you.
To provide you with information, products, or services that you request from us.
To fulfill any other purpose for which you provide it.
To notify you about changes to our Website or any products or services we offer or provide though it.
To allow you to participate in interactive features on our Website.
In any other way we may describe when you provide the information.
For any other purpose with your consent.

We may also use your information to contact you about our own and third-parties' goods and services that may be of interest to you. If you do not want us to use your information in this way, please check the relevant box located on the form on which we collect your data. Browser Extension

YouSpot publishes a browser extension for Google Chrome. This section describes everything the extension collects, why it collects it, where that data is kept, how long we keep it, and every party it is shared with. It applies in addition to the YouSpot Privacy Policy; where the two differ, this section governs data handled by the extension.

Its Single Purpose

The extension exists to do one thing: let you save a page you are looking at into your own YouSpot Second Brain, and show you what you have already saved. Every permission it requests and every piece of data described below serves that purpose. It is not an advertising, tracking, or analytics product; it does not follow you around the web; and it does not alter the pages you visit.

What It Collects, and When

The address and title of the tab you are on. Read only while you have the YouSpot side panel open, so the panel can show you the current page and tell you what kind of thing it is — a person, a company, a link. The address and title are sent to YouSpot to make that determination. The text of the page is not sent for this.
The contents of a page you choose to save. When, and only when, you press Save, the extension reads the page in the active tab and sends to YouSpot its address, title, main article text, a structured summary of that text, and any note you typed. That becomes an item in your Second Brain. Until you press Save, nothing on the page is read or transmitted.
Pages captured automatically, if you switch that on. The extension offers an auto-capture switch for individual sites we support (today, LinkedIn). It is off by default, it is presented to you per site, and switching it on is what grants the extension the ability to read that site. While it is on, the profiles and posts you scroll past on that site are saved to your Second Brain as though you had pressed Save on each — for a profile, the publicly displayed name, headline, location, and profile address; for a post, the author, the text, and the engagement counts. Switching it off takes effect immediately and withdraws the extension's access to that site. It never applies to any site other than the one you switched it on for.
Your YouSpot sign-in. A YouSpot access token, the email address on your account, and the address of your avatar image, so that you stay signed in between browser sessions.
A record that a feature was used. The extension tells YouSpot when a sign-in or a save happens, and how many items a batch contained, so we can support you and see which features get used. These records identify your account, not the pages you visited.

What It Does Not Collect

It does not collect your browsing history and does not report the pages you visit. A page you do not save, on a site where you have not switched on auto-capture, is never read and never leaves your computer.
It does not read passwords, form fields, keystrokes, clipboard contents, cookies, or payment details.
It does not run on browser system pages, on other extensions' pages, or on the Chrome Web Store.
It does not modify, inject content into, or change the appearance of the pages you visit.
It does not collect health, financial, location, or personal-communications data.

Where It Is Stored

On your own computer, in the browser's extension storage: your access token, your email address and avatar address, your per-site auto-capture switches, and any captures still waiting to be sent. A capture leaves that queue as soon as it is delivered. Uninstalling the extension deletes all of it.
On YouSpot's servers, in your account: the items you saved, held in the same infrastructure as the rest of your Second Brain and visible only to you and to the YouSpot personnel who need access to operate and support the service. Traffic between the extension and YouSpot is encrypted in transit using TLS.

Who It Is Shared With

We do not sell or rent data collected by the extension. We do not transfer it for advertising, for building profiles for third parties, for credit assessment or lending, or for any purpose unrelated to the extension's single purpose. We do not use it to develop, improve, or train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

It is shared only with the service providers that operate YouSpot on our behalf, each of which is named — along with the data it touches — in the subprocessor list at /terms#subprocessors. For a saved page, those are: our application hosting and database providers (DigitalOcean and Supabase), which run the service and store the item; our AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter, and Mem0), which receive the item's text in order to summarize it, index it for search, and answer the questions you ask about it; and, for a saved LinkedIn profile or company page, our enrichment provider (Fiber), which receives that profile or company address. Beyond those providers, we disclose it only in the circumstances described under Disclosure of Your Information.

Limited Use

YouSpot's collection and use of information through the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Retention and Removal

We keep a saved item for as long as it is in your Second Brain. You can delete any item at any time, and doing so removes it.

Uninstalling the extension from your browser's extensions page erases everything it stored on your computer, including your access token, and ends all collection. Deleting your YouSpot account at /user/settings/account removes the saved items themselves. You may also ask us to delete them at any time by writing to privacy@youspot.com.

Google User Data

Connecting a Google account to YouSpot is optional. If you do connect one, this section describes what we access, why, where it is kept, how long we keep it, and how to revoke it. It applies in addition to the rest of this policy; where the two differ, this section governs data obtained through Google APIs.

What We Access and Why

Gmail messages. We read messages — headers, subject lines, and bodies — from the mailboxes you connect, so that YouSpot can answer your questions about your mail, retrieve a message you ask for, and build your list of the people you correspond with (from headers alone). The permission we request (gmail.readonly) is read-only: it grants no ability to send, alter, or delete mail.
Google Calendar. We read the events on your calendars — title, time, attendees, description — and edit an existing event when you ask us to. We do not create or delete events.

We do not request access to Google Drive, Google Contacts, or your Google account settings, and we cannot send mail or change your mailbox. Accounts connected before August 2026 may retain the broader permissions granted at the time; disconnecting removes them.

What We Store, and What We Do Not

We do not store the contents of your Gmail messages or your calendar events. They are read from Google's APIs at the moment you make a request and are discarded once that request has been answered. What we do retain is:

The OAuth access and refresh tokens for each connected account, so that the connection keeps working without asking you to authorize it again.
Summary counts recorded at the time you connect: the number of messages and threads in the mailbox, and the number of events on the calendar.
Contact records derived from your message headers: email address, display name, email domain, how many messages you have exchanged, and the date of the most recent one.

How We Protect It

Traffic between you and YouSpot, and between YouSpot and Google's APIs, is encrypted in transit using TLS.
We request the narrowest set of permissions that supports the features we offer, and we do not ask for scopes we have no feature for.
Every call to Google is made with the credentials of the account you connected and is scoped to your user. One user's credentials cannot be used to reach another user's mail or calendar.
Access to the production systems holding these credentials is limited to personnel who need it to operate and support the service.
You can withdraw our access at any time, and we act on it immediately. See Retention, Revocation, and Deletion below.

Who Else Sees It

To answer a question about your mail or calendar, the relevant content is sent to the third-party AI service provider that generates the response, which processes it in order to produce your answer and not for its own purposes. To determine whether a sender is a person rather than a bulk mailer, we send only that sender's email address to a third-party profile lookup service. A current list of the third-party services that process user data — including our AI providers — is published at /terms#subprocessors. We do not sell your Google data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not disclose it for any purpose other than providing the features you are using.

Limited Use

YouSpot's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular, YouSpot does not use data obtained through Google Workspace APIs to develop, improve, or train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

Retention, Revocation, and Deletion

We keep the data described in this section for as long as the Google account remains connected to your YouSpot account.

You can disconnect a Google account at any time from /user/integrations/gmail. Disconnecting deletes the stored tokens for that account and revokes our grant with Google, which ends all further access. You may also revoke it directly from Google at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Disconnecting a mailbox does not by itself remove the contact records already derived from it. Deleting your YouSpot account at /user/settings/account revokes every connected Google grant and removes all of the data described in this section, including those contact records. You may also ask us to delete it at any time by writing to privacy@youspot.com.

Disclosure of Your Information

We may disclose aggregated information about our users, and information that does not identify any individual, without restriction.

We may disclose personal information that we collect or you provide as described in this privacy policy:

To our subsidiaries and affiliates.
To contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support our business and who are bound by contractual obligations to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.
To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it. For example, if you give us an email address to use the "email a friend" feature of our Website, we will transmit the contents of that email and your email address to the recipients.
For any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information.
With your consent.

We may also disclose your personal information:

To comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request.
If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Company or others.

Mobile Information: No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Choices About How We Use and Disclose Your Information

We strive to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. We have created mechanisms to provide you with the following control over your information:

Tracking Technologies. You can set your browser to refuse all or some browser cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable or refuse cookies, please note that some parts of this site may then be inaccessible or not function properly.

Children Under the Age of 16

Our Website is not intended for children under 16 years of age. No one under age 16 may provide any personal information to or on the Website. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are under 16, do not use or provide any information on this Website. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 16 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 16, please contact us at privacy@youspot.com.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

It is our policy to post any changes we make to our privacy policy on this page with a notice that the privacy policy has been updated on the Website home page. If we make material changes to how we treat our users' personal information, we will notify you by email to the primary email address specified in your account. The date the privacy policy was last revised is identified at the top of the page. You are responsible for ensuring we have an up-to-date active and deliverable email address for you, and for periodically visiting our Website and this privacy policy to check for any changes.
